Vern tells Consuelo Mack: "People have to reexamine their basic beliefs right now. If they work with a financial advisor, they need to revisit the old investing truisms/myths of buy and hold, indexing, investing for the long term, rebalancing, dollar-cost averaging."
Vern is interviewed by Bloomberg's Betty Liu about his views on where to invest now, including Asia (specifically China and India). Vern tells Betty: "China and India still have a long way to go in terms of growth, even though they have slowed recently."
Vern takes a sobering look at the current financial crisis: "The worse thing about a down market like this one is it makes you feel you’ve got about as much chance of making money as a bug on a highway trying to face down the eighteen-wheelers."
